Funny Dares for Losing a Bet

Crazy Lost Sports Bets

0 of 13

    Evan Agostini/Associated Press

People lose sports bets all the time, but the terms aren't always so hilarious.

Sure, you have athletes wearing rival colors, but that's sort of boring, am I right? (Unless it's Stephen A. Smith, of course.) Nope, these sports bets had funnier consequences. And as much as I'd love to include a few oldies but goodies, we're going to keep it recent. That's right—that means Shaq's pink undies are off the hook.

Who will suffer the funniest punishment of all? It's between calendar guy and "Chandelier" guy—read on to find out.

Puck Daddy Pie to the Face

    USA TODAY Sports

Puck Daddy editor Greg Wyshynski made what turned out to be an ill-advised wager with the Los Angeles Kings mascot during the 2014 Stanley Cup playoffs. Wyshynski bet the mascot, Bailey, that the San Jose Sharks would beat the Kings in their first-round matchup.

Of course, the Kings won, and as punishment, Wyshynski took a pie to the face in front of thousands of fans at the Staples Center.

Stephen A. Smith Loves Jerry Jones

Like I said, wearing another team's gear doesn't exactly count here, unless it's hilarious. And it was definitely hilarious when Stephen A. Smith had to wear Cowboys gear. It was all the funnier because the "gear" wasn't just a jersey or hat, but it was a custom shirt that read, "I Love Jerry Jones."

Smith is one of the more outspoken sports personalities, and he's never been shy about his dislike for the Cowboys. He told Skip Bayless that if Dallas won its division, he'd wear the shirt on-air for two hours.

An Unfortunate Incident with Sriracha

It takes a big man to follow through on a lost bet he made with himself. That's just what happened for Redditor Scalpel_Jockey not long ago.

When Clemson and Oklahoma met in the Russell Athletic Bowl, the Clemson fan was pretty certain that his team's quarterback Cole Stoudt would not throw for 300 yards. In fact, he stated,"If Cole throws for 300+ yards and 0 ints, I'll snort a line of sriracha" (h/t@RedditCFB).

Well, Stoudt had a great game. He threw for 319 yards with no interceptions. Oops. Hot sauce up the nose can't feel good.

Free Drinks for Everyone, Forever

Back when Michael Sam was still with the St. Louis Rams, he tallied two sacks in a preseason game against the Browns. One Twitter user, @SquareKnight, publically stated before the game, "If Michael Sam sacks Johnny Football & gives the money sign, drinks are on me. For everyone in the world. Forever."

Well, this is awkward. I'm thinking infinite drinks for everyone on planet Earth could get pricey. Sam definitely did sack Maziel, and he definitely did the money sign. Luckily the man was light-hearted about it, tweeting, "Today I messed up by promising mankind free booze for all eternity."

According to For The Win, @SquareKnight donated to Sam's favorite charity instead. Class act.

Any Given Bet

5 of 13

Parodies seem to be on trend when it comes to losing bets. This guy had to reenact a scene from Any Given Sunday, doing his best Al Pacino, after losing in fantasy football.

The hilarity is in the bad acting, folks. A for effort, though.

Tattoo League

6 of 13

ESPN analyst and fantasy football guru wrote a book called Fantasy Life. In it, he details some of the worst punishments for league losers. Allow me to share one of the funniest.

In this video, Berry describes the Tattoo League in Omaha, Nebraska. Apparently the loser each year has to get a tattoo, and the league winner gets to choose the image. Examples include a unicorn, Care Bears and Justin Bieber. Go ahead to the 2:50 mark to see the Biebs' face on the leg of a grown man.

Bill Belichick Twitter Avatar

What does Xavier basketball have to do with Bill Belichick? Well, the Musketeers head coach Chris Mack roots for the Bengals, and his assistant Joe Sullivan roots for the Patriots. Naturally, the two made a bet when the two teams met in October.

When the Patriots dispatched the Bengals, 43-17, Coach Mack had to suffer the consequences. For seven days, Bill Belichick was his Twitter avatar.

Greenberg Milks a Cow

In 2014, ESPN radio personality Mike Greenberg lost his annual March Madness bet with co-host Mike Golic. His punishment involved milking a cow on live television.

I'm betting Greeny got more than he bargained for, however, when the cow uh, did its business right at that moment. Warning: the video involves cow defecation.

Youppi in a Rangers Jersey

9 of 13

    Dave Sandford/Getty Images

Youppi! is the mascot for the Montreal Canadiens, and he was on the losing end of a bet with television host Jimmy Fallon. When the Canadiens lost the Eastern Conference Final to the New York Rangers, the team had to post 10 pictures of Youppi! wearing a Rangers jersey around Montreal.

Loser Keeps Bieber

10 of 13

OK, this one's not a real bet, but humor me here. @CommandSign posted this image to Twitter back before the U.S. and Canadian hockey teams met in the Olympic semifinals. The billboard is apparently owned by Command Transportation in Illinois and has a history of displaying sports jokes.

As you might know, Justin Bieber is a native Canadian. The U.S. lost the game, and Bieber seems to be holding up his end of the bargain—he is reportedly renting a glass mansion near Beverly Hills in the good 'ol US of A.

Golic Channels Kim K

11 of 13

    Jordan Strauss/Associated Press

    Warning, this is probably NSFW.

Remember when Kim Kardashian "broke the Internet" with her Paper Magazine cover? And you know how ESPN's Mike and Mike are always making bets with each other? Well, Golic lost big time when Greeny's alma mater Northwestern beat Golic's Notre Dame.

His punishment was to recreate Kim K's now infamous photo. Here it is—view if you dare.

Calendar

12 of 13

Instagrammer allstern lost his fantasy football league, and his punishment was hysterical. He had to make a calendar full of photos of himself recreating famous images. Doesn't sound too funny?

Check them out. There's photos of our guy Henry as "wardrobe malfunction" Janet Jackson, George Constanza, Brandi Chastain and an ESPN The Magazine Body Issue cover model, among other things.

Chandelier

13 of 13

Losing in fantasy football often goes hand-in-hand with humiliation. No one knows this better than this guy. In a YouTube video titled, "Never lose a fantasy football bet," said man parodies "Chandelier" by Sia.

This is already a pretty strange music video to begin with, but this guy's spot-on recreation is so good, it's weird. And hilarious.
